About Us

Inspired by the targets of United Nations’ (UN’s) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and to uphold the commitment towards making the world a better place by 2030, Global Institute of Sustainable Development (GISD) was established as a non-profit organisation to work with  the government, civil societies, private sector players, and communities to drive and realise SDG agenda.

Objectives

  1. Develop model SDG villages, blocks, and districts with innovative approaches to advance the SDG agenda.

  2. Bring government, civil societies and other stakeholders together to promote principles of sustainable development.

  3. Empower and enhance the readiness level of stakeholders to drive the SDG agenda.

  4. Support government and other stakeholders to design and implement SDG-focused programs.

  5. Foster learning with thinktanks at all levels in order to explore innovative ways to realize SDGs.

  6. Facilitate the greater uptake of successes at state, national and international levels.

Create awareness about SDGs among citizens and local actors in the selected districts.

Support state and national governments to develop policies and guidelines to implement SDG projects.

Conceptualise model SDG blocks and districts in partnership with the government and other stakeholders.

Provide technical advisory support to district, state, and national governments to plan and implement SDG projects.

Develop two to three model SDG blocks as pilot projects, in partnership with governments, the private sector, and other stakeholders.

Organise knowledge management workshops, seminars, or conferences with national and international stakeholders to share learnings from GISD’S model SDG districts and help improve SDG programming.

Develop knowledge documents based on experience and learnings from our model SDGs blocks, and share the successes and challenges to development blueprints for better SDG programming.
